MVAR® 2022 September E-newsletter

A message from the Board President

Happy September, MVAR:

It’s hard to believe that fall is quickly approaching and the end of the year will be here before we know it.

MVAR is working on a number of events in the coming months, that are meant to support networking with one another, but also tied to the support of RPAC.

RPAC has been a phenomenal resource for REALTORS ® since its inception in 1969. Since the beginning, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee has promoted the election of pro-REALTOR® Candidates across the United States.

While it’s the universal truth that the very foundation of homeownership is the back bone of America’s economy, it’s also the foundation for financial well belong and generational wealth. Prompting and protecting those private property rights is the number one goal of REALTOR® Associations across the country. Homeownership should be affordable, available to everyone and continue to be the best way for Americans to build stability and wealth in this country.

Now more than ever, supporting RPAC is becoming increasingly crucial, as we’ve seen more local need than ever.

For example, the City of Salem, and other cities within our area of service, have considered items such as a natural gas ban &  home energy scores that will impact housing costs and overall live ability of our community. An investment in RPAC means that 70% of your dollars stay locally, which allows us the opportunity to support those local propositions in a manner reflective of REALTORS® belief in equitable, affordable housing for all. Recently, our Government Affairs Committee has interviewed local candidates for council races, mayoral races, etc., to ensure that our association and it’s membership is actively engaged in candidate races and endorsing those that will adamantly support housing incitive and land use laws that will continue to make our communities livable and affordable for all.

I want to encourage you all to attend our upcoming RPAC fundraisers, and I want to urge you all to invest your time and money into supporting local and statewide candidates who support the foundation of the American dream. No matter the amount, no amount is too small or ineffective.

In addition, now is the time for REALTORS® to get involved in local community races. For example, our very own Deanna Gwyn is in the November election for a run off for the last council seat of Ward 4. Now is our time to rally behind our candidate by sign waiving, door knocking and sharing her message for a stronger Salem. As REALTORS®, we have a unique ability to pull together a strong group of individuals who believe in common ground of housing- whether it’s Deanna or another local campaign, let’s get invested in the leadership of our cities and our communities. It’s never too late to get to work for our clients and their right to homeownership. REALTORS® see possibilities, we have hope and optimism that problems can be solved and will be solved through leadership and collaboration.

At your service,

Ashleigh Fordham

Support REALTOR® Deanna Gwyn in her run-off election for Salem City Council!!

Donate Now

Campaigns are expensive – and Deanna is facing running a full campaign for a second time this year. Every donation helps, small or large. Even just $25 helps fund her campaign while at the same time showing she has numerous supporters in the community. And you don’t have to be a Salem resident to help Deanna get elected!

While we are busy interviewing candidates, there will be no GAC meetings this month. See you next month!
